Top 10 Things to Remember to Please Your Coach
1. Be on time for every practice and attend each and every practice. Remember, when you are not at practice, you aren't getting any better. Be on time for the bus and for warm ups. Arrive at least 10 minutes early, so you are ready to go on time!
2. Display good sportsmanship during every swim meet. Respect everyone on your team and the opposing team!
3. Follow a healthy and nutritious eating plan. Drink water or sports drinks every 10 to 15 minutes in practice. Eat a healthy and nutritious snack before and right after every practice. Eat a high carbohydrate snack before practice for a boost of energy and a high protein snack right after practice to help rebuild muscles. Get an ideal number of hours of sleep each night, so you can swim your best.
4. Listen and never talk when I'm talking. After each race, please talk with me about your race and check out your times. I'd love to give
you feedback to improve your stroke, but you must stop by after your race, so I can give it to you!
5. Know what events you are swimming and be ready to swim them. Please pay attention when you are up next. You should never miss an event.
6. Bring the proper equipment to practice and meets. Please remember your suit, warm ups, cap, goggles, water bottle and towel to every meet and practice.
7. Communicate with Coach Richardson if you can't make a practice or a meet. If you can't make it to a meet,especially an Invite, I need to
know at least one week in advance.
8. Know your times and set goals for each and every race.
9. I may ask you to swim in events that are not your favorite, but are what is best for the team. Please be a team player and welcome the
challenge. There are different strategies for scoring points in dual meets, Invites, Conference and Sectionals, pleaserealize this and swim
wherever you are needed.
10. Ask for help if you need it. I will be happy to stay after practice to help you with anything or let you swim more distance if you need it!
